The morning sun hit hard the dance studio in Friedrichshagen, in the outskirts of Berlin, where Shauna and I met so I could document her creative and movement research processes. These are a few of the moments captured that day.
Sing with the body
Shauna studied contemporary dance with Danceworks Berlin from October 2015 to October 2018 and, in her own words, ‘I like to create movement that is driven from sensations and emotions. I think of dancing as a way of singing with the body’.
In this set, 'I am researching through movement the idea of control and release, holding on and letting go'.
A few months later, Shauna and I met again in a different studio. Unfortunately, we had only a few minutes of sun crossing the big room and its massive glass windows, as it was already the beginning of winter in Berlin. I captured a few more stills and also took this opportunity to shoot a video that shows only a glimpse of what Shauna is creating.
